Living in a small apartment can be pretty frustrating. You own too much stuff and don’t have enough space to store it all! It took me a few years to finally discover solutions to the restrictions of living in a smaller space and I am here to share them with you! Check out my tips on how to find space in a smaller space below:

Use decor & furniture as storage:

This is probably my #1 tip for saving space. Utilize the space under your bed and couch to store items. For example, I keep seasonal decor and linens stored under my bed. Make sure to keep all items stored under furniture in plastic containers & bins to prevent dust buildup over time. You can even buy furniture with built-in storage included.

Have a lot of books and don’t know where to put them all? Use them as decoration! Place books under a lamp or display them on a console table. The possibilities are endless.

Find unexpected places to store items:

Have space above your kitchen cabinets? Buy some cute wicker baskets and store decor, dish-ware, cleaning supplies, etc.. in them. You can even use a crevice between two pieces of furniture to store thinner items such as trays and bags.

Buy the right products:

For some, just organizing products can save a significant amount of space. Don’t have enough room for your shoes? Invest in a shoe rack or over-the-door organizer. Can’t fit your sweaters in the closet? Maybe you just need to reorganize and add shelving to your wardrobe. Many people confuse lack of space with disorganization and it’s important to remember that you might have the space and just need to organize it!
