And keep an eye out for my second book, Shut the Front Door, releasing this Fall!

Today I wanted to discuss some things ALL renters should do in their homes. I know I discuss this in my upcoming book, but it truly surprises me how many renters leave their spaces bland and boring.

I went to my friend’s apartment the other day and aside from a black sofa and black coffee table, there was NOTHING else in her living room! Talk about bland and boring ?

The tips below will ensure that your rented space looks and feels like a proper home. If you don’t want to watch the video, all of the tips are written out below it 🙂

Incorporating area rugs

Not only do area rugs cover up ugly floors, but they also add dimension as well as an element of design in your space

Utilizing command hooks

Command hooks are not just for hanging clothes and bags. You can use these hooks to hang hair appliances or you use them inside of kitchen cabinets to store rags, mats, cleaning supplies etc..

Decorating all empty walls

A bare wall is a big no-no in any home. You can decorate your walls will artwork, shelving, mirrors, wall decor and faux wallpaper.

Adding curtains

Many people will stick to the shades provided by the landlord or management company. Adding your own curtains will give the space some extra dimension.

Incorporating small accents

It’s amazing what a transformation small items of decor can make. Adding decor, such as books and small objects, to the tops of furniture can make the world of difference

If you’re a renter, you should be doing all of these things in your home! #budgetfriendlydecoratingideas #decoratingideas #decoratingideasforapartments #rentalhomedecoratingdiy #smalllivingroomideas #smallapartmentdecorating
