If you were to decorate only one thing in your living room, it should definitely be your coffee table. All coffee tables need to have some decor on it! There are no exceptions. This is a go-to formula for decorating a chic coffee table. #coffeetabledecor #coffeetablemakeover #smalllivingroomideas #livingroomdecor #livingroomideas

Every city girl needs a good-looking coffee table in her home. A coffee table is the heart and center of any living room, especially if you’re living in a smaller space. Not only does it needs to be stylish, but it needs to be functional as well. The #1 mistake anyone can make is to over clutter or under decorate it. Here are the 4 things every girl needs to have on her coffee table:

  1. Some books: I feel like this is the #1 tip for any coffee table. Not only are books educational, they also act as décor AND conversational starters! I like to stick to books that revolve around design or fashion. Every coffee table needs at least a minimum of two books. I’ve compiled a list of my favorite coffee table books below
  2. Something tall: Coffee tables are always going to be low pieces of furniture and therefore there needs to be some element of height added. A tall candle or tall piece of décor would do the trick!
  3. Something small: It’s important to add some dimension here: Make sure to have 1-2 pieces of smaller décor to place on top of your books. When choosing the right décor, you want to make sure it complements the overall style of the room.
  4. Something live: Are flowers a girl’s best friend? I’d like to think so! A must-have on any coffee table is a nice vase of flowers. I always stick to basic and white. If you’re not in the market to go out and buy fresh flowers every week, no big deal! Go to your local craft store and buy some fake ones. They look just as real with zero work!

In addition to the tips above, the last thing I have to mention is to not overdo it with the décor. You don’t want your table to feel too over-cluttered, especially if you’re living in a generally small space. The key is to make sure that there’s still enough room on the surface for drinks and some food – remember, it is a table after all!
