Hi all! Unfortunately, today is not a happy-go-lucky blog post. Instead, I wanted to share the sad news that my IG account has been hacked and disabled. To be honest, I’m not sure if I will ever get it back. The account I have put my heart and soul into the last few years is currently stuck in a stalemate on the backend of Instagram and Facebook.
I had someone try and hack into my FB and IG on the 28th (from Moscow, Russia – obviously not me). I have two-step authentication, so they couldn’t log in (good news, right?). Well, the overreactor in me changed the password for both Facebook and Instagram. The following morning, I saw another notification that someone else was trying to log in (around 8 am). Therefore, I changed my PW AGAIN for FB and IG. FB immediately logged me out, deactivated my account, and made me upload an ID of myself. The message I got was, “Thanks, Chelsey. We’ll send an update once we’ve reviewed your submission. We’re always looking out for the security of our community, so until then you won’t be able to use Facebook.” After that, I couldn’t log into my Instagram anymore and it was disabled.
A few hours later, after emailing every email I possibly could, I got a message from Instagram saying my account went against policy and it was disabled, but that I could “appeal.” Well, it wouldn’t let me appeal because you need to be logged into Instagram to do that. Catch 22?
Summary: I didn’t go against policy, obviously. You all know how much I love Instagram. I got an email in the middle of the night that someone was trying to change my Facebook and Instagram password and to be safe like anyone would do, I changed both account passwords, (twice in one day). Facebook flagged it, deactivated my account, which then deactivated my IG account as well since they are linked.
Now, I can’t even appeal because Instagram won’t let me log in because my Facebook is down. And I’m afraid, nothing will change for a while.
To my fellow interior bloggers, please spread the word on your IG account about my experience. The more people who flag it, the more hope there is to reclaim my lost glory.
To the 60K visitors who come to this blog per month: I will still be posting content regularly on here, as always. I am bummed about my Instagram, but it’s truly this blog that that puts a smile on my face every day. And maybe one day, I’ll also be able to inspire you on Instagram again.
All my best,
